CM Cricket tourney criticises by Congress

To expand its base among the young voters in Madhya Pradesh, the ruling BJP's youth wing has organised Mukhya Mantri Cricket Championship at divisional level, a move which has been criticised by Congress. The championship organised in three phases had Mandal level, district level and divisional level.

The final of the championship, which began at Mandal level on May 25, has entered into second phase  from June 2, final match of second phase would be held in Indore on June 11, at the local Nehru Stadium where earlier international level cricket matches were organised.

“Under the Mukhya Mantri Cricket Championship we have so far organised 6,000 matches and associated nearly 80,000 youths with the party,” Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's State president Amardeep Morya told. In the final, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJYM's national president and BCCI's acting secretary Anurag Thakur will be present, he said.

The championship's State convenor Deepak Jain said that the BJYM has recorded the contact details of all those taking part in the event and is making an endeavour to bring them close to the BJP's ideology. However, criticising the BJP for aping Congress, State Congress unit spokesman Narendra Saluja said that his party's four big leaders have organised cricket championship near Indore recently and the BJP is just copying it.

He alleged that since the BJP has failed to provide employment to the youth, it was trying to mislead them by organising cricket tournaments and politicising the game for its vested interests.
