Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan came under attack from leader of Opposition Ajay Singh for misleading the people with false claim that the state has recorded highest growth rate in the country. "The Chief Minister is falsely claiming that the State is ahead than every State in the country when in reality it is ahead of only four states including Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand. It is really a bad time for Madhya Pradesh that its growth rate is being compared with the state that is considered most backward in the country" Ajay Singh said on Sunday.
"Chouhan should know that there are 28 states in the country. Why the State Government's press note is silent on the growth rate of other statesIJ The Chief Minister should refrain from telling lies and misleading the people of the state," he added.
Chouhan omitted the name of that state which is ahead of these all in growth rates. It is the Union governed Pondicherry which has growth rate of 13.05 per cent, Singh said, adding that the CM cannot change ground reality by juggling with data.
The ground reality is that in nine year regime of Shivraj Singh Chouhan, more than 17,000 farmers have committed suicide. The state is ranked top in the country in terms of infant mortality and maternal mortality rates. Education is in bad shape. Patients do not find good treatment in hospitals. With rising graph of crime against women, the common people are praying that they should not be born as girl in next birth. Corruption has crossed all limits. The ministers and high officials involved in Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scam and drug purchase scam are being shielded while those at the lower rungs are penalized.
"The growth rate of Madhya Pradesh has come down by 1.81 per cent from last year. Besides, the Chief Minister should also explain how agricultural growth rate has come down from 18.81 per cent in last year to 14 per cent," he said.
Chouhan cannot go on cheating the people any more. "People are watching the reality and are waiting for the elections to give their verdict," he added.
