Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has made a fervent appeal to people to express emotional solidarity with people affected by Nepal earthquake tragedy. For this, he said, let the entire State come to a stop for one-minute at 11 am on May 5. All sections of society, business establishments and organisations should observe one-minute silence to pray for peace to the departed souls with their religious practices.
Chouhan was addressing public representatives and officers through a joint video-conference here on Saturday. The Chief Minister said that Indian culture considers entire world as one family. All people and villagers of the state should take part in the gesture of expressing emotional solidarity with Nepal earthquake victims. Spirit of cooperation is important. Even a small amount’s donation will be a major contribution in the hour of crisis.
He said that all resources should be used to universalise this feeling. Information about the programme should be publicised through public announcement system in urban and rural areas on May 3 and 4. Heads of all religions, communities, business & commercial establishments and local public representatives should appeal to people to cooperate and participate in it. All organisations should ensure their participation by holding meetings. Effective cooperation of media should also be sought. He said that if sources are available then people can be alerted for observing silence through siren before prescribed time.
The Chief Minister informed that contributions for relief to the affected people will be collected in CM’s Relief Fund. This amount will be sent to Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. He informed that gestures are being received for help to the victims from various sectors and sections of society in the state.
