Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on Sunday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to accelerate Madhya Pradesh’s development, stating that the ongoing pace of progress will not be allowed to slow down. Addressing a large public gathering in Bareli, Raisen district, during the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony of development works worth Rs 138.96 crore, Dr. Yadav emphasised that the state’s transformation over the next five years will be achieved through collective effort and citizen partnership. The projects included initiatives under the Health Department, and benefits were distributed to selected beneficiaries of various government schemes. The Chief Minister also participated in a tree plantation drive along with local public representatives under the Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan.
Dr. Yadav announced that all Ladli Behnas in the state would receive Rs 1,500 in their accounts on the upcoming occasion of Raksha Bandhan—comprising Rs 1,250 under the existing scheme and an additional Rs 250 as a festive gift. He noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is reaching new milestones, and Madhya Pradesh is set to outpace even agriculturally advanced states like Punjab and Haryana to become the nation’s top-performing state. Speaking about the development of Bareli, he said the region is blessed by the divine presence of Lord Hanuman of Chhind and is emerging as a prosperous agricultural zone. Recalling former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s visionary leadership, Dr. Yadav credited him for launching the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana and the Golden Quadrilateral project, which continue to benefit rural connectivity and national infrastructure.
The Chief Minister declared that farmers will be freed from electricity bills within the next three years. He announced that power connections for farmers will be made available at just Rs 5, and the state’s solar pump scheme will allow them to generate, use, and sell surplus electricity. He stressed that irrigation coverage has increased dramatically from 7 lakh hectares to 55 lakh hectares and that the goal is to expand irrigation to 100 lakh hectares in the next five years. Projects such as the Ken-Betwa Link, Parvati-Kalisindh-Chambal Link, and Tapi Mega Recharge are being implemented to ensure water reaches every farm.
Highlighting employment and education initiatives, Dr. Yadav praised Minister of State Narendra Shivaji Patel’s effort to provide internships to unemployed youth from agricultural families, under which trainees receive Rs 3,000 per month. He announced that this stipend will now be covered entirely by the state government.
The Chief Minister further revealed that Madhya Pradesh aims to increase the number of medical colleges to 50 within three years to expand healthcare and education access, particularly benefiting girls from rural areas.
Emphasising industrial and urban development, the Chief Minister noted the state’s Rs 4.21 lakh crore budget and highlighted that eight airports have already been developed.
He spoke of transforming towns like Bareli and Obedullaganj into metropolitan centres and reiterated that the state is actively working to promote agro-based industries and become the dairy capital of India. To this end, women in self-help groups and farmers are being encouraged to take up cattle rearing with a 25% subsidy, and the government will purchase the milk they produce. Additionally, ten gaushalas are being established in each municipal corporation, and the per-cow subsidy has been raised from ?20 to ?40. The state will also support individuals or organisations interested in opening cow shelters.
