Chief Minister Mohan Yadav engaged in in-depth discussions with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) President Susumu Kataoka and his delegation at Minato-ku in Tokyo. The meeting focused on exploring various aspects of collaboration and potential investment opportunities for Japanese companies in Madhya Pradesh.

During the discussions, Chief Minister Yadav shared that JETRO currently operates five offices in India: New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. However, he noted the absence of a JETRO office in Madhya Pradesh. To strengthen ties and facilitate more effective dialogue and cooperation between Japanese companies and the state government, he proposed establishment of a JETRO office in Madhya Pradesh.

Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh is an ideal place for Japanese investors due to its strategic location, strong infrastructure, and favorable industrial environment. He informed that the state falls in the 'low seismic zone,' which ensures security and stability of investment.

The Chief Minister informed that the Madhya Pradesh government is bringing special policies for semiconductors, AVGC (animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics), extended reality (XR), and global captive center (GCC) sectors, which Japanese companies can take advantage of. He mentioned that the country's leading IT companies like TCS, Infosys, LTI Mind-Tree are already operating in the state.

Yadav stated that Madhya Pradesh offers a favourable environment for automobile and auto component manufacturing. He emphasized that if a major passenger car manufacturer invests in the state, the sector will gain significant strength. Dr. Yadav also expressed his expectation for cooperation from JETRO to facilitate such investments.

Chief Minister Yadav proposed to JETRO to organize investment promotion programmes and seminars in collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government, so that Japanese companies can get information about the state's investment policies and industrial opportunities. He requested JETRO to motivate more than 1400 Japanese companies operating in India to invest in Madhya Pradesh.

JETRO Chairman Susumu Kataoka said that the upcoming 'Global Investors Summit' will prove to be an important platform for Japanese companies to understand investment opportunities in Madhya Pradesh and establish new partnerships. He said that JETRO will invite as many Japanese companies as possible to this event and will work towards increasing investment cooperation with the Madhya Pradesh government. JETRO can especially help us in the fields of IT, Fintech, Medical Devices, Electronics, Auto Components, Energy, Mining etc. The state is committed to providing specific industrial parks, industrial housing, customized financial assistance packages, and pre-approved approvals for Japanese industries. JETRO can help the department in determining specific financial assistance packages according to the needs of such units.

Yadav invited the JETRO delegation to attend the Global Investors Summit to be held in Bhopal on 24-25 February 2025. He suggested that JETRO participate in this summit along with Japanese companies and evaluate investment opportunities in the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also invited the JETRO delegation to visit places of cultural and historical importance in Madhya Pradesh, such as Sanchi to understand the cultural heritage of the state closely. In the meeting, both sides expressed commitment to further strengthen investment and business cooperation in future. JETRO assured to maintain continuous dialogue with the Madhya Pradesh government in this regard and cooperate in materializing the investment possibilities.
