CM and bureaucrats' designs won't work in Maihar: Congress

The State Congress has claimed that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the bureaucracy together would not be able to make the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) victorious in the by-election for Maihar Assembly by-poll.

Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee’s chief spokesman KK Mishra in a statement here on Wednesday demanded from the Election Commission of India (ECI) to start monitoring of the Maihar Assembly constituency where by-election is due in short while.

Mishra said, “The drill started by the Chief Minister Chouhan and bureaucrats in Maihar is nothing but frustration of the BJP that is expecting certain defeat in Maihar by-poll that could be announced any day.”

Mishra further said that Chief Minister together with the in-charge Minister and bureaucracy would not be able to make BJP victorious. The Chief Minister is misusing the administrative machinery to win the Maihar Assembly by-poll as during his two day halt at Satna just before the announcement of dates for by-poll the administration found over six thousand BPl cards and distributed residential Pattas to the people, hence the ECI should start monitoring of the Assembly constituency, he added.

He said that scared with the recent defeats in Bihar Assembly elections, Ratlam – Jhabua Parliamentary election and loss in five of the eight civic bodies in the State the State BJP and the State Government have frustrated. And this being the reason that the Chief Minister after having failed as the Government is now relying on the bureaucrats to win the elections and in that he would not succeed, he added.

The senior Congress leader wished to know from the chief minister that under what compulsions the administration was forced to distribute the residential Pattas overnight in his presence and six thousand BPl cards have been found. When chief minister boasts of development by his government than why is he adopting such measures to win election, he added.
