Health officials in the state capital continued inspections for the second consecutive day on Saturday, prompting several clinics to shut their doors amid fears of penalties for illegal medical practice.
The Chief Medical and Health Office team is verifying medical degrees, treatment methods, and compliance with legal acts governing medical waste, licensing, and clinic operations across the district.
Authorities say many clinics remained closed voluntarily to avoid scrutiny. Surveillance on such premises is ongoing, with local police, municipal staff, and administrative support bolstering the drive.
Just a day earlier, four clinics were issued closure notices by CMHO Dr Prabhakar Tiwari. Further legal action has been initiated against those operating without registration.
Inspections on the day targeted Gupta Clinic in Ashoka Garden and Shuddhi Clinic at Platinum Plaza, both found shut. Locals claim Shuddhi Clinic may be operating at another location.
District Immunisation Officer Dr Ritesh Rawat and SDMOs Dr Ashwin Bhambal and Dr Abhishek Sen led the team based on tip-offs. Similar cases were reported at several other sites.
Dr Tiwari confirmed that inspections will continue regularly. Authorities are reviewing practitioner registrations, medical systems used, and overall adherence to healthcare standards and regulations.
