A clash erupted between policemen posted at the EVM strong room of MLB College and students of the college over a petty matter resulting in chaos and turmoil for many hours.
On hearing about the matter from the policemen posted at the strong room, a battalion of police rushed to the college. A huge contingent of police has been deployed in and around the college to preempt any further violence.
The principal of the college, Prof KS Rathore said that he has received a complaint from the students and that he will be writing to the Gwalior SP about the matter.
In a memorandum to the principal the students have alleged that the policemen on duty at the strong room often misbehave with them, sometimes even threatening them. They added that the policemen regularly smoke in the premises and throw litter here and there. The students have also alleged that the policemen ride their motorbikes in the campus even during class times and park their two wheelers wherever they feel like.
However the policemen posted at the college have rebutted the allegations of the students. Speaking to the media persons, B S Jayant, a constable said that the students often obstruct them from doing their duties. He continued that the EVM strong room is a sensitive area and as such students are discouraged from coming near it. Today also when some students were advancing towards the strong room the policemen asked them to keep away from the area. This didn’t go well with the students and they started throwing water pouches at the policemen. As more students joined in the assault the posted policemen had no other option but to call in more forces.
