School van operators would be on strike for the second time in a short span of five months. They have declined to agree to the proposal of running vans under the Bhopal City link limited (BCll).
A meeting of the van operators over observing strike was held here on Wednesday. Congress district Committee president PC Sharma was especially present in the meet where he declared his support to the strike.Van operators alleged that despite assurance of Transport Minister the RTO and traffic police were continuously harassing them despite the fact that they are carrying only 14 children in the vans.
They further alleged that if a van driver had gone directionless due to the action of the traffic police and due to that if they meet with any accident, who would be responsible. When the Transport Minister has assured that after discussion with him the problem would be solved, then what was the meaning of police and RTO action.
Meanwhile, the van operators were divided over the strike, one faction was in favour of the strike while the other faction was against it. The call for the indefinite strike has been given by School Vehicle Drivers Welfare Committee.
President of the committee Yunus Qureshi said that the administration should compel the schools to provide us contract letters. On the other hand the district administration says that it would continue its action against the illegal school vans.It is for the second time since July that the parents despite paying arbitrary transportation fee would remain upset for sending their wards to schools.
