City's literati tell a story at 'Spin a Yarn'

To celebrate the 450th birth anniversary of the great poet and playwright, William Shakespeare, the literature lovers of the city took part in a creative event, ‘Spin a Yarn’.

Organised by Club Ink of Swami Vivekananda library the event was held at Swami Vivekananda library Hall here on Friday.

Everyone has a story and as one participant starts the story the others join the first participant to complete the story one by one using their own creativity and imagination.

The participants wonderfully formed the story abiding by the directions of the mentor. Notably, the English language Trainer from Bhopal Ekta Serene conducted the game and Devanshi Khetrapal, head of Club Ink mentored the participants. This game broadened the imagination of the participants as they begin the game. As many as six new stories were formed through the game.

A picture was shown to the participants, over whom the participants had to form new stories within the given time limit and as the first story was finished another picture was shown and the next story was formed and so on.

Notably, Spin a Yarn is creative game which was played during the old times, but now it has lost its significance in today’s’ time. Spin a Yarn is a fun and creative story-telling game where the participants can explore their imagination and create a story of their own. Interestingly, the game is all about how the participants create a story on the spot as fast as they could. As this game has a time limit for every participant as the time period for the first participant is over the story is passed on to the next participant and so on. So as the story reaches the last participant it has to be finished with more creative elements and this is how a story is created and the yarn is spun.

Moreover, the story is first told by the moderator and then it is passed on to the first participant and then to the second and so on. Further, the moderator also keeps an eye over the direction of the story, time limit and how the story is being formed and all the participants have to abide by the direction given by the moderator.

Overall, it was fun for the participants and also a knowledge gaining programme.
