City’s renowned artist — Sajid Premi’s paintings would now be displayed at Siba Art Gallery, Izmir in Turkey. Sajid would showcase his paintings at an exhibition Second International Art Banal of Izmir.

Sajid Premi is a painter working since 1963 in figurative art. Out of his collection, three paintings are selected to be displayed at the exhibition.

He is the only artist whose paintings have been chosen for the exhibition from the State.

While talking to The Pioneer, Sajid said, “I only work in figurative art and cannot imagine my paintings without figures. Figures describe the beauty of hidden feelings through expressions. I feel that the most important thing while portraying your thoughts on canvas is maintaining the originality of the artistic perceptions.”

Elaborating further, he said that there is a vast difference between the thought process of the spectators and the artist.

He said, “I am really very happy that my paintings have been selected for this grand exhibition. I am so overwhelmed that it cannot be expressed in words,” he added.

The way with which different phases of life are portrayed on the canvas by the artist is commendable.

For a while, the spectators are lost in the world of puzzling metaphors. Sajid works with acrylic and oil paints on canvas to give shape to his imagination.

Besides, he will also put up a series of collages among his collection.

“Art is the reflection of the moment created out of inspiration and hence, touching the forms like abstract or modern art is not his style,” he added.

The use of vibrant as well as glooming colours in his paintings always captivates the attention of the viewers.

Besides, 19 jury members were invited, who selected 439 paintings from across 50 countries.

Further, only three artists from India have been selected for the art exhibition including Prakash Bal Joshi, Babita Das and Sajid Premi.
