CII Bhopal’s Young Indians initiative launched the eco-friendly ‘e-waste collection drive’ on Wednesday at Scope College. Nearly two-month-long drive will include participation from more than 20 schools, college, office, etc across the city.
These places will keep a box for e-waste collection and will appeal to the people to dump their electronic waste from their home and offices in proper disposal units and avoid the disposal of electronic waste with general waste, as it is extremely poisonous (toxic), it is important separate e-waste from daily garbage. Give us your e-waste and we will dispose the waste safely, preventing the harm to environment.
The objective of this effort is to spread awareness among the citizen of Bhopal about the poisonous effects of e-waste, though not a very big problem right now, the improper disposal of e-waste will become a reason to worry in the near future. But timely prevention and awareness can ensure a pollution free green environment.
E-waste or electronic waste means old electronic goods, CDs, durables, computer, mobile etc. Most of them contain non-biodegradable materials, and can release toxic elements into the environment if not disposed properly.
