Against the proposed nuclear plant, residents of Chutka village and adjoining areas of Mandla district have decided to stage a protest in the State capital at Yadgar-e-Shahjehani Park on Monday.
Despite the protest of people from Chutka and all over the Madhya Pradesh, the Congress-led Central Government and the State Government completed the formality of so-called Jan-Sunwai (Public hearing) on February 17.
The people of Chutka and adjoining areas have alleged that they are being forcefully deprived from their water-forest-land, livelihood and constitutional rights.
The political parties involved in the protest informed that except some developing democratic groups and organisations, rest of the political parties unanimously are against the public demand, when it comes to the topic of nuclear energy.
The activists have decided to reach Delhi to participate in a ‘Jan-Sansad’ on March 4 after protesting in Bhopal on Monday; where common people, intellectuals and protesting organisations from all over the nation will participate. The programme is organised by a voluntary organisation ‘Initiative Against Nuclear Power’.
Acting on the complaint filed against the ‘Jan-Sunwai’ in the State’s Human Rights Commission, a notice has been issued to the Mandla collector.
