Chief Minister’s rally scheduled on January 20 in Rewa has attracted opposition after Angawadi workers and helpers have been ordered to attend the rally shutting their work on the day of rally.

President of All India Janvadi Mahila Samiti Shaila Shukla said that the practice of keeping Anganwadis closed restraining from providing nutritious food for participating in rallies organised by Chief Minister or minister is anti-democratic and un-constitutional and exposes anti child rights nature of the Government.

The protest was fuelled after orders of participation of Anganwadi workers and assistants, in the rally scheduled on January 20 was issued by district collector and officials of woman and children development department.

The orders were not given in writing and were verbal, she alleged.

Organisation has taken the stance after the orders were made that participation would be made and on the day of the rally mead day meal would not be served.

Restraining the workers from serving food in the time when there is increase in malnutrition in children in Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions such orders will further augment the problem.

General Secretary of Organisation Neena Sharma said that with the Anganwadis the practice to keep school and colleges shut and force students and teachers to participate in rallies.

The organisation has opposed the BJP Government’s use of administration for achieving their political interests and claimed that when people angry from policies of Government do not participate in the rallies then Government use the administration as instrument to forcefully increase the number of people for participating in rallies, she added.
