Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has extended greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on International Biodiversity Day observed on 22 May.

In a message to the people of the state, Chief Minister Chouhan said that the state is endowed with natural wealth, forest wealth and biological wealth. It is our collective responsibility to conserve and upgrade this biodiversity as a heritage. The entire world is passing through a challenging era of climate change.

In such a situation, the state government is working persistently to strike a balance between environment and rich biodiversity of the state.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has appealed to the people to take a pledge to conserve, promote and make sustainable use of the abundant biodiversity available across the state.

Chouhan said that it is our collective responsibility to pass this heritage to future generations in an enriched form for the bright future of all living creatures. Chouhan said that consciousness is exclusive to humans but it is also prevalent among all creatures; be it insects and moths, animals and birds and rivers and mountains. To presume goodwill among all creatures and to consider entire ‘Vasudha’ (mother earth) as a family is an integral part of Indian culture and enculturation.

The unity of spiritual essence is actually real essence of biodiversity.
