Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan deposed in the district and sessions court on Friday in the defamation case he had filed against Congress leader KK Mishra around two years ago.

Chouhan had filed the case on July 26, 2014 against the Congress leader Mishra over the allegations leveled by the latter regarding role of Sadhna Singh, wife of Chouhan in the Vyapam scam. Mishra had levelled allegations that Sadhna Singh was involved in the Vyapam scam besides a powerful person in this case. The recruitment scam had reportedly involved manipulation in the selection process for government jobs conducted by Vyapam (MPPEB).

Chouhan reached the court of Justice Kashinath at around 11 am and remained there for around four and a half hours.

Advocate of Mishra, Ajay Gupta cross examined Chouhan for around 40 minutes and asked several questions. In reply to most of the questions, Chouhan said that the vyapam case is being investigated.

later, talking to media persons, advocate Ajay Gupta claimed that the complainant is pressuring his client for compromise. "He says, if Mishra apologizes, he would withdraw the case," Gupta added. He also claimed that the Chief Minister shirked most of his queries.

Meanwhile, advocate JP Dubey from the prosecution told that during cross examination of the Chief Minister, no such fact came to fore that allegations of Mishra were true.

He claimed that the gist of the arguments from Mishra's advocate was that 'Gondiya' was mentioned by Mishra during press conference only to inform that Gondiya is the place where Chief Minister's in-laws live. "He (Mishra) claimed that no allegations have been made against the Chief Minister," Dubey added.
