West Bengal is a rich State but poor people live here, neither the Congress nor the Mamata Banerjee Government has done anything for the development of the poor, said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday while addressing an election meeting at Gopal Nagar in 24 Parganas in West Bengal.
Chouhan invited the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee to Madhya Pradesh for learning ways to reduce poverty. The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister called on the people to support the wave of change and elect a strong Government at the Centre.Terming Banerjee's claims of good governance hollow, Chouhan blamed the State Government for failure to get Indian nationality for the Matua community that is living since years in the region. “The next Government to be formed at the Centre under the leadership of Narendra Modi would get this work done,” he added.
On the issue of illegal entry of militants from Bangladesh, Chouhan said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cares for guests but would not tolerate those who are entering illegally. The illegal entrants would have to go back. Every possible help would be provided to the refugees as they are living in the society like common Indians, he added. He said that the Congress and the Trinamool Congress are the two sides of the same coin and have same character as both make promises and forget them once the elections are over.
The senior BJP leader said that Madhya Pradesh used to be a backward State “but today we have made it a fast progressing State with our hard work. We have provided interest-free loans to the farmers, bonus on crops of wheat, rice and maize, provided one rupee per kg wheat and rice to the poor and we have borne the expenses of poor children's study.”
He said that Madhya Pradesh has the highest growth rate in the country. Farmers are getting electricity and water supplies.
