The depiction of light after the deep darkness was presented by the tiny tots of the city marking the grand closure of children’s theatre fest. A two-day children’s theatre festival concluded with a ballet ‘Udit Bhaskar’, here on Wednesday at the Shaheed Bhavan Auditorium. The fest was organised by Children’s Theatre Academy on the conclusion of a 45-day workshop organised by the academy.

Scripted by Sushrupt Gupta, choreographed by Vaishali Gupta, the ballet was presented by as many as 45 child artists of age group 4 to 16 years in contemporary dance style, mesmerising the audience. Some movements of Kathakli to depict the anger mood of sun and cloud were also used. This musical ballet of 45 minutes describes the origin of the sun, moon and stars.  It also talks about the origin of time. The students gave a splendid performance and wondrously showcased the evolution of moon, sun and stars at the deep dark sky spreading light in the world.

The children were very confident as they gave their performance in their respective roles. The audience also appreciated the efforts put in by the little performers. It was an enthralling experience for the theatre appreciators of the city as they watched the children with rapt attention. The music and the light design on the other hand added much zest in the presentation.

“Children had been practicing for this ballet for past two months especially worked on facial expression and body language with music. We chose this topic for ballet for sending beautiful message as well as to aware the children regarding the origin of universe by using some comic punches,” said Vaishali Gupta. Besides, some painting, masks and crafts were also exhibited. It was prepared by children during workshop under the direction of leading painter Mohan Shigne and Rajni Dhanewar Shingne.
