The children learnt the unique art of handicraft and ceramics at a summer workshop organised at Jawahar Bal Bhawan here on Monday. A competition of ceramic art was also organised for the children at Bhawan premises.
Under the month-long workshop, the children learnt the basics of creating artistic pieces out of wet clay. Notably, Jawahar Bal Bhavan every year organises summer workshop for the school students to learn new things that may also include dance, music, painting, acting, theatre, embroidery and more. These workshops are being organised for the students to enhance their skills into different artistic fields which may also prove beneficial for them in the coming years.
While talking about ceramic workshop, in-charge and trainer of ceramic art Sunita Mishra said, “Under this workshop, children with the use of wet clay gave shapes to their perceptions and thoughts. Whatever they like to make or learn I trained them according to it. Some made animals, or some made structures or pots and more,” she added.
The competition was divided into two groups. One group included children from age group 7 to 12 and other group included children above 12 years.
The little ceramists created various sculptures that portray their hidden outlook about what they feel. They wonderfully played with the clay and moulded it according to their artistic perceptions. Every ceramic piece was different from each other. Under ceramic workshop the children are also taught to create their imagination through paper-mache.
As the children moulded their perceptions and gave a beautiful look to the clay. They were given the grades A, B and C according to their sculptures and were appreciated by the visitors as well.
Interestingly, the children are enjoying the various workshops and are taking full pleasure of it as they are learning new things under it.
