The second session of summer vacation workshop ‘Creative Science’ is being organised by Regional Science Centre. The workshop began from Monday at the centre premises. On the fourth day of the Aeromodelling workshop, children learnt about various functions of aeromodelling.

As many as 20 students from different schools of Bhopal have participated in the workshop to enhance their knowledge about science and its various streams.

Through fun learning activities, the students are exploring the unknown and unique facts about science not only attending lectures, but also practically.

While talking to The Pioneer, educational officer of Regional Science Centre MM Rout said, “This is basically aeromodelling workshop where children are learning to make different gliders and are learning about their working and functions as well.” In the beginning of the workshop, the students were taught about the basics of aerodynamics, the principles of flying and different parts of aircraft and its functions.

Besides, during the three days, students were exposed to learn and fabricate the aerofoil shape, connecting ‘Rudder’ to the vertical stabiliser, elevator to the horizontal stabiliser and aileron to the wings and its functions as well. Also all the students have prepared five different gliders using high density thermocol and given aerofoil shape to all its parts and tested the gliders' Centre of Gravity and made them fly.

The workshop would conclude on Friday. On the concluding day, the children would display their models and would give demonstrations before their parents. They would not only explain the working of the models, but would also give presentations of their innovative creations.

The third session of the Creative Science Activity would include students of grade sixth to grade eighth that would begin from May 21 to 27. Here the students would learn model making with bringing innovations through their skills.
