Chief Secretary Anthony de Sa reviewed wheat procurement on support price in the State on Tuesday. The CS said that special attention should also be paid to safe transportation and storage of procured wheat. So far, 62 lakh MT wheat has been procured from 8 lakh farmers in one of the country’s major wheat producing State, Madhya Pradesh.
Procurement is on at about 3,000 centres in the State. Procurement had started from March 25 and will continue till May 26. Wheat is being procured at the rate of Rs1,450 per quintal. CS also directed to make payments to farmers as early as possible.
