Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was pinned the flag symbolising Flag Day by Commander Uday Singh, Joint Director, Sainik Kalyan, on Armed Forces Flag Day at the CM residence premises 'Samatva' building. CM Chouhan contributed funds on his behalf.
It is worth mentioning that the soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces attain martyrdom while performing their duty in defence of the country, internal security and natural calamities.
Every year since 1949, December 7 is celebrated as Armed Forces Flag Day to remember, honour and show respect to the soldiers by the citizens of the country.
On this day, financial assistance schemes related to the welfare and rehabilitation of dependent families of martyred soldiers, Divyang soldiers, ex-servicemen, serving soldiers and their dependents are conducted with the amount collected by distributing car flags and emblem flags to be installed in motor vehicles.
