Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has warned the Superintendents of Police (SPs) that they would be shifted to police headquarters (PHQ) if they fail to control crimes in their respective districts.

Chouhan was reviewing the law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh, here at the State Mantralaya on Friday. Chief Secretary Antony DeSa, Director-General of Police (DGP) Nandan Dube, Principal Secretary, Home, RK Swai, Principal Secretary to the CM, Manoj Shrivastava, and other officials were present on the occasion.

The Chief Minister asked the SPs to launch special campaigns in the districts to check the crime rate. Those SPs who fail to check the crimes in their respective districts would be considered as incapable of field postings and they would be shifted.

He further said that the law and order situation of each district would be reviewed every month. He directed to continuously monitor sensitive cases and to take immediate action in cases related to women. Chouhan said that he himself would review the efforts made by the officials in the districts to check the crimes against women.

Chouhan asked the SPs to ensure that law and order is maintained strictly in their respective districts. He stated that besides SPs, the IGPs would also be held responsible for any laxity. The Chief Minister asked the DGP to prepare a work-plan for rewarding the police personnel excelling in maintaining law and order.  The districts that would excel in checking crime rate would be rewarded in public functions, he added.

He directed the officials to make special efforts for checking the crime in particular seasons of marriage, festival and other special occasions, as the criminals become active on those occasions. A special strategy is required to deal with the crimes on such occasions, he said, adding that the officials have to ensure that the criminals do not get any political protection and they continue fearing police.
