The smart city company is planning for innovation in the direction of balancing the environment and enhancing the transportation services in Bhopal. A contract has been signed with Chartered Company for this. Under this, the Chartered Company will operate 1000 electric vehicles in the city on PPP mode. In the first phase, the company has also supplied 50 e-bikes. They will soon be put on the streets. Once charged, this electric bike is capable of running a range of 40 km.

However, charging stations are still being built for electric bikes. Only after that its operation will be started. This electric bike will be fully charged on the stand itself. If someone has to go from Lalita Nagar in Kolar to New Market, then he will take out the bike from the stand here and after reaching New Market will keep it on the stand there.

This will stop the use of private vehicles. Officials of the Smart City Company said that the electric bike will run at a speed of 25 km. The rent will be charged on an hourly basis. However, it is not yet decided how much rent the company will charge for this.

The Smart City Company will build 200 stations for electric bikes at various locations in the city. In these, charging points will also be made at 120 stations. However, these vehicles will have two batteries. When one battery is discharged, its engine will be connected to the other battery.

Monitoring of electric bike will be done through GIS system. There will be a lock and unlock system at the stand. Advance payment will be taken for this also. The entire system of locking and unlocking the e-bike from the stand will be operated by mobile apps only. Along with this the code will come on the mobile numbers. Even after putting it on the e-bike will be unlocked on the stand.

“Charging stations are being built in other main roads and colonies including potential metro stations, bus stands, ISBT, Hoshangabad Road, New Market, MP Nagar, Smart Road and VIP Road. The Chartered Company claims to supply the remaining electric bikes before the metro stations are made. At the same time, as soon as the vehicles arrive, their operation will be started”- Ankit Asthana, CEO, Smart City Company.
