Charred body of a girl was found in a forest near Sukhi Sewania on Thursday. As the face is burnt beyond recognition, the deceased is yet to be identified. According to the police, sensation prevailed in the area after body of a girl in the age group of 15 to 16 years was found in the morning hours on Thursday.
An on duty local watchman spotted the body and informed the officials and police. On the receipt of the information, police team reached the spot and after the preliminary investigation, the body was sent for the post mortem.
Police said that the kotwar Jaganath after spotting the body informed the police. Face and other body parts of the deceased were found severely damaged in the fire, which has made the identification difficult.
The circumstantial evidence suggest that the deceased was burnt with the intention to hide her identity, but other possibility of killing the deceased by setting her ablaze could not be ruled out. At the moment, nothing could be confirmed as the investigation is in initial stage and the post mortem report is still awaited which could help in identifying the reason behind the death of the deceased.
The deceased was wearing a finger ring, which was recovered in the initial investigation by the police.
The police have found impressions of tyres of two-wheelers, foot marks of two persons and marks of dragging the body at the spot.
The body was recovered a few meters away from the main road, but the deceased died before she was taken inside the forest.
