Chaos in Cong as members aim to join BJP

There is a chaos among the Congress leaders to quit the Congress party and most of them joining the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The State has been a bastion of the age-old Congress party, but after the BJP emerged victorious for third term in the assembly elections, it seems that the saffron party has become unbeatable in Madhya Pradesh.

The first exodus from the Congress was witnessed during the monsoon session of the State Assembly in July 2013, when Deputy leader of the party in the House, Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi joined the BJP. He had surprised everyone by speaking against the no-confidence motion, tabled by his party.

After Chaturvedi left the Congress, his brother Mukesh got elected to the MP assembly on a BJP ticket from Bhind district. This was evident that the ruling party fulfilled the promises made to Chaturvedi.

later, Congress parliamentarian from Hoshangabad Rao Uday Pratap Singh joined the fleet. He dealt a blow to his party by quitting just before the assembly elections in November last year.Pratap is now contesting the lok Sabha elections on a BJP ticket. He had defeated Madhya Pradesh Forest Minister and five-time MP Sartaj Singh of BJP during the last lok Sabha elections.Retired IAS officer, Bhagirath Prasad who had contested the 2009 lok Sabha polls from Bhind constituency on a Congress ticket shocked everyone by changing loyalties to the BJP.

Just the next day after he was given the Congress ticket for contesting the lok Sabha polls again from the Bhind constituency, moved to the BJP, surprising everyone.Bhagirath said he was leaving the Congress as those within the party including Union Minister Jyotirajaditya Scinida worked to ensure his defeat in the lS elections.

Recently, senior Congress legislator Kalpana Parulekar quit Congress and joined the Aam Admi Party (AAP) and the last one was Dinesh Ahirwar, Congress MlA from Jatara joined the BJP.
