Certain people sacrificing youth leadership for self gain: Cong leader

Published on:

While the Congress party in MP is facing a spirited internal rebellion from the young leaders against the old guards, another one Umang Singhar, former Cabinet Minister of Kamal Nath Government has taken a pot shot at party seniors.

Umang Singhar who was in the limelight for his ugly public spat with the senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh last year, had fired a fiery tweet on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha on Saturday.

“Congress party has a history of numerous sacrifices right from the freedom struggle to till date including those from leaders, party workers and Nehru Gandhi family members but certain people are busy sacrificing country’s oldest party and youth leadership for personal interest,” Singhar said in a tweet.

Singhar the nephew of former Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Jamuna Devi did not forget to tag former AICC president Rahul Gandhi in the tweet making it amply clear who he was aiming at.

One after another, Congress party young leaders are confronting party old guards even as the party is losing strength nationally.

One of the loyalists of Rahul Gandhi, Rajiv Satav had a spat with senior party leaders who were ministers in UPAII, during a video meeting of party MPs organised by Sonia Gandhi on Friday. Satav was of the view that these former ministers should also take the blame for party’s shrinking base post 2014.

Once a key member of Team Rahul Gandhi Jyotiraditya Scindia has left the party in March to join BJP and also brought down Kamal Nath government early this year. Another young leader Sachin Pilot is also engrossed in a riveting battle with partyman and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for the past few weeks.   Forest minister in Kamal Nath’s 15-year-old Government in Madhya Pradesh, Singhar had a public feud with Digvijaya Singh as he had accused Singh of blackmailing his own Government for different works.

Singhar had written a letter to AICC then interim president Sonia Gandhi accusing Singh of trying to establish himself as a power centre in Madhya Pradesh. However, as the feud had intensified, party high command had intervened into the matter. Jyotiraditya Scindia too had backed Singhar when the latter had took on Digvijay Singh.

Supporters of Congress MP working president Jitu Patwari too are busy promoting him as the leader of state unit for future. His posters had appeared on and off the social media so were the posters of Digvijaya’s son Jaivardhan and Kamal Nath’s son Nakul Nath. The party however had dubbed this as a mischief from opposition.
