Rich tributes were paid by the employees of Central Bank of India to its founder Sir Sorabji N Pochkhanawala on his 135th birth anniversary here on Tuesday.

Various functions were organised at different centers to mark the occasion. The main function was held at the Bank’s Zonal Office in Bhopal where Deputy Regional Manager VK Tripathi solemnised the oath of good conscience, dignity and to carry out the work as per the ideals of the bank to the staff members.

He recalled how Sir Pochkhanawala had achieved his dream of establishing country’s first Swadeshi Bank at a young age, braving many adversities, during the freedom struggle and worked tirelessly to steer it to premier position.

Reminding that the present generation of employees are fortunate to be part of the Bank in its Centenary Year which the Bank is currently celebrating, Tripathi exhorted the staff to march on the path shown by Sir Pochkhanawala for the progress of the Bank and work towards achieving the goal of crossing set targets.
