To cope up with the examination stress, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start pre-exam psychological counselling for the students from February 9.
The counselling will help the students overcome exam-related stress. The pre-exam counselling is in its 20th year that will begin from February 9 and will continue till April 29. Notably, CBSE pre-exam counseling is an outreach programme which caters to the heterogeneous students’ population and vast geographical network of schools.
The CBSE offers different mediums to counsel the students. Tele-Counselling and online counseling are there to help the students.
Tele-counselling is offered by the principals and trained counselors from within CBSE affiliated schools located in and outside India. It is a voluntary, free of cost service provided by the principals.
This year 90 principals, trained counsellors from CBSE schools, psychologists and special educators will participate in the Tele-counselling and address exam related psychological problems of the students.
Shikha Rastogi former principal World Way International School has been appointed to counsel the students from Bhopal. CBSE has also a centralised toll-free number in India i.e. 1800-11-8004. Students can dial the toll free number from any part of the country and can have access to CBSE helpline.
The students will be connected to the principals or counselors in case of exam related anxiety and stress, while the general queries will only be answered by the operators. The tele-counselling helpline will be working from 8 am till 10 pm. Meanwhile, the special educators will be taking up the care issues raised by differently able students. Moreover, the online counselling will be available at counselling.cecbse@gmail.com. The CBSE website will also advise the students on ways to cope up with the exam stress.
