A CBI team reached Morena on Friday in compliance with an order of the court in connection with the firing on an APC and others of the SAF two months ago and collected the diary of the case. The team visited both the places of incident with the civil lines police. The CBI team would remain in Morena for two-three days and a special CBI team would again visit Morena for enquiry later.

A team of half a dozen officers led by CBI inspector Amit Saxena reached Morena on Friday morning and stayed at the rest house where the diary of the case was called from the police station concerned. After reviewing the cases the police station in-charge along with a team of forest department went to AB Road check post where APC Virendra Khare and head constable Mahanath of the SAF were injured by the sand mafia.

The CBI team inspected the place of incident and collected information from the people present there at that time. The team after staying for three days would submit its report to the senior officers. After that a special team of the CBI would come to Morena again and enquire about the hand of politicians behind the sand mafia.

Sixteen accused have been named in both the cases. One of them has been arrested. A reward of Rs15,000 each has been announced on them by the police. A public interest litigation petition was filed in the Gwalior high court when no action was taken on the case of attack on SAF jawans by the sand mafia even after a month.
