Alleging that large scale irregularities were committed in wheat procurement last year, leader of Opposition in State Assembly Ajay Singh has demanded Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the scam as well as low procurement of wheat in the current year.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Singh has alleged that compared to last year, 61 lakh ton less wheat was procured this year.
“Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government is facing an embarrassing situation as people’s faith in it is declining due to large irregularities committed last year and the low level of wheat procurement recorded this year,” he said.
“The inflated procurement of wheat last year was made possible by agents of BJP who sold wheat belonging to PDS and brought from outside to the procurement agencies.
“Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan was shameless to spend crore of rupees on advertisement of this fake achievement while the real farmers could not even approach the mandis. It was due to last years experience that farmers did not went to mandis for selling their wheat this year. The farmer can sell wheat at low price but cannot accept insult,” Singh remarked.
Coming out heavily against the State Government, Singh repeated his charge that Shivraj government has become a Government of scams. “The Chief Minister has done cheating in the occupation that he jealously claims as his own. While he calls himself a farmer, the Chief Minister not only gave protection to large scale corruption in wheat protection, but also took the Krishi Karman Award by presenting false data on agriculture,” Singh noted.
