Giving a spin to Shehla Masood murder case, the special CBI court here on Saturday accepted the plea of accused Irfaan of becoming an approver in the case.
With the CBI court accepting mercy plea of Irfaan, a fresh revelation in Shehla Masood murder case is expected with the hope that Irfaan may provide some new information related to the murder case in its next hearing slated for September 25 this month.
Subsequent to his mercy plea before the CBI court wherein Irfaan besides seeking an apology for his crime had expressed his willingness to stand as a Government witness in the case.
Subsequently, the special CBI court judge Rajeev Kumar Ayachi recorded the confessional statement of Irfaan in a closed room under Section 164 of the IPC last month. In its fresh hearing on Saturday, the CBI court while accepting the mercy plea of Irfaan has allowed him to turn a government witness in the case.
Irfaan is one of the five accused in Shehla Masood murder case.
The other key accused in the case include Zahida Parwez, Sabha Faruqui, Saquib and Tabish. Irfaan with the help of Saquib and Tabish had killed Shehla Masood three years back in Bhopal.
