The Crime branch Bhopal and food and drugs department seized 140 quintals of spurious mawa from different parts of the state capital which was delivered from Gwalior, Dholpur and Mathura; spurious mawa was found to be of 20 traders of Bhopal.
Apart from the traders of Bhopal, spurious mawa was found traders of Hoshangabad, Piparia, Sehore, Vidisha region.
Information of large quantity of spurious mawa was received by crime branch which was transported in the wake of huge demand of sweets in the upcoming festive season.
On the receipt of information crime branch and food and drugs team raided several places and seized massive amount of spurious mawa.
In the morning on Tuesday several places were raided and a total of 140 quintals of mawa was seized which was found to be spurious. The transporters told the police that the sweets shops and dairies were among the traders which were scheduled to receive spurious mawa.
The spurious mawa of traders of Hoshangabad, Piparia, Sehore and Vidisha was also seized in the raids.
Meanwhile, the team raided a godown under Khajuri police station area and seized over 200 kg of spurious milk products on Tuesday.
In the raid 25 kg Skimmed Milk Powder, 60 kg of Ghee, 30 kg of mawa and 3 quintals of Paneer. The milk products were found spurious. The goods seized were handed over to foods and drugs department for further investigation.
