Travelers usually gather a trove of memories and unique experiences while commuting across places. Indian Railway has now offered a unique opportunity to such train commuters to win cash prizes by writing articles about such memories and experiences about a train journey.
The railways announced on Monday that under the scheme ‘Rail Yatra Vritant Puraskar Yojna’, any Indian citizen can submit entries about their experience of a train journey to participate in the award scheme. The scheme has been launched to improve image of the railway among common people and also to motivate the railway employees to provide better services to the people.
The three best entries to the competition will be awarded during the all-India official language celebrations or during other such event. Under this scheme, three best travelogues written in the same calendar year will be awarded.
To participate , a travelogue of 3000 words written in Hindi and typed in double-space should reach the office of Director (Official language) of Railway Ministry by June 30. The first three winners will be awarded cash prizes of Rs 4000, 3000 and 2000 respectively an will be informed by post. The railway has, therefore, asked the participants to provide correct addresses for receiving the information.
The prize will be given only to original articles. In case any article receives award from the any State Government or union territory, it will be disqualified.
