Mired with dissatisfaction and resentment on the ticket distribution, fresh troubles knocked BJP door after a case of violation of model code of conduct was registered against the chairman of State Mining Corporation Rameshwar Sharma for staging a protest on October 26, at Mata Mandir Square of the State capital on Friday.
A case under Section 147 and 188 of the IPC has been registered against Sharma, lily Agarwal, Sushma Sahu, Vandana Parihar, Ramesh Rai Dixit, Pankaj Verma and others.
The case was registered against the protest, which was led by Rameshwar Sharma after the Congress lodged a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) regarding violation of model code of conduct by Sharma and other protesters who have protested without obtaining permission from the competent authority.
After getting the complaint the EC during the investigation found that the allegations were true and before the protest permission was not sought from the authorities. It was staged without permission, which was mentioned in the complaint made by the Congress with the Election Commission.
Meanwhile, Sharma denied any wrongdoing and defended that how a peaceful protest could be termed as rioting and said that nothing violent was done during the protest. However, he was shied away from the question of obtaining permission for the protest.
Superintendent of Police Bhopal (South) Anshuman Singh said that after Election Commission’s instruction a case was registered against the protesters who were found violating the model code of conduct. However, no arrests were made till late evening on Saturday.
