Some were able to break the clues and find the way and some tried out really hard. The Bhopalites observed this Mother’s Day with a fun filled ‘Car Rally’ organised on Sunday in the city.

The car rally was organized by a youth group Sanidhya to mark the occasion. Sanidhya - A Ray of Hope is a student run body that works for establishing equality in society and breaking gender specific stereotypes, organised a women car race which saw huge participation from Bhopal.

The youngsters participated with their mothers at the car rally. As many as 30 Bhopalites participated in the rally and enjoyed every bit of it. There was excitement and enthusiasm among each participant as their mothers drove the way.

Founder of Sanidhya group Ravi Budhwani told The Pioneer, “The car race was organised with an idea of challenging the stereotype that women can't drive.”

The entire car rally was based on the treasure hunt format. The participants were given interesting clues to be solved while they drove their cars. There was also an interesting competition like ‘finding the shortest way to destination’.

The participants enjoyed the rally as they gave a tough competition to each other.

Suman Motwani, coordinator for this event said that the enthusiasm of ladies was something which were never seen before. It was an immense sight to watch a participant driving a SUV. Since the race was on treasure hunt format, people weren't fast just at driving but breaking the clues and finding the shortest ways too was interesting for them, she added.

After the rally, an award night was also organized for the participants. This was followed with the brilliant performance by Arindam Sinha.

Ravi Budhwani while elaborating about the event also said, “We are planning to make this an annual event and also have a lot of events lined up concerning current issues of the society.”
