A campaign for issuing new voter-id cards has been started by the State Election Commission and the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education. This is a campaign under the swap plan which is functioning with both the institution's collaboration.

Two campus ambassadors Farzana Patowari and Balikaran Gurjar have been selected along with a nodal officer Indira Barman who are the in charge of this campaign in the college.

Every day an hourly camp is being organised in which the interested students can fill a form and submit their

documents and get their new voter id cards issued along with this the students and teachers who want to update or correct their old voter id cards they too can fill the form and get it done.

Till now a tentative number of around 200 students have already filled forms along with 20 staff members.

"We were told to organize this camp in our college but we organized a one day camp in Bagroda which is the adopted village of the NSS unit of our college. There we got around 50 forms for new registration and 10 correction forms.

Travelling from a village to the city and then waiting in lines to get their work done is very exhaustive for them and as we got a chance to do this we thought why not do this work for them as well." campus ambassadors informed about the campiagn.

Nodal officer and the convenor of the NSS unit Indira Barman said, "one of the basic aims of this campaign is to spread awareness amongst the students for voting.

We organize many activities in our adopted village after and before the annual camp of seven days because our responsibility towards that village is more than that."

The campiagn will prove to be beneficial for the students as well as the teachers, she added.
