Burhanpur of Madhya Pradesh was honoured for declaring as Har Ghar Jal (water to every household) certified district in the Swachh Survekshan Gramin-2022 award function.
In Burhanpur, all the villages conducted Gram Sabhas to verify that safe drinking water is regularly available in all their houses, schools and anganwadis. The award was presented by President Smt. Draupadi Murmu at a programme at Vigyan Bhawan on the occasion of Swachh Bharat Diwas.
Additional Chief Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department Malay Srivastava and Burhanpur Collector Praveen Singh received the awards. Union Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Giriraj Singh, Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Jal Shakti Shri Prahlad Singh Patel and Bishweshwar Tudu were present.
Under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Madhya Pradesh has got the first prize among the states doing excellent work in the West Zone in the Swachh Survekshan Gramin-2022. Principal Secretary Panchayat and Rural Development Shri Umakant Umrao received the award. Apart from this, Bhopal has got the first prize and Indore has got the third prize in the districts doing excellent work.
Madhya Pradesh got first prize for best work in Sujalam 1.0 campaign and fourth prize in Sujalam 2.0 campaign. These awards were presented by the Union Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
