Preparations for the Khajuraho International Film Festival (KIFF) 2025 are underway, with organisers promising a renewed focus on socially relevant themes and artistic collaboration in the host state.

During a visit to Bhopal, actor-producer and KIFF organiser Raja Bundela met artists from film, television and theatre to present the initial blueprint. He urged filmmakers to explore themes such as women and child development, modern agriculture and social welfare to spark meaningful change through cinema.

Bundela said this year’s festival would be driven by fresh thinking and a deeper commitment to societal concerns, blending creativity with responsibility.

He also reappointed Sunil Sonhiya as film in-charge, citing his efficiency and dedication. Sonhiya will additionally lead the festival’s promotional campaign and coordinate with prominent institutions to build broader participation.

Several prominent cultural figures attended the event. Among them were Dr Azam Khan of the Flying Fairies theatre group, Doordarshan anchor Purva Rai, actor-director Pappu Joshi, Dr Rajesh Bizronia of Sage University, and members of the National Cine Workers.

Artists including Devaraj Joshi, Shahrukh Khan, Ammani and Varsha Mishra felicitated Sonhiya with a shawl and bouquet, acknowledging his longstanding contribution to KIFF.

Attendees praised Raja Bundela’s vision, calling the festival a cultural identity of Madhya Pradesh. They highlighted how KIFF nurtures emerging filmmakers and brings regional talent into national and global view, making it a vital platform for the arts in central India.
