Barkatullah University (BU) Physics department holds the record of having maximum research scholars with fellowship in the State.
More than 35 research scholars of the physics department have received fellowships and scholarships from the top international and national organisations like UGC, IUMRS Singapore, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), etc.
BU Physics department HoD Professor Shankar P Sanyal said that a university is not judged on the basis of the alumni's job and salary packages, instead, it is known for the research work carried out in the university and the impacts of the research on the society and development of human civilisation.
BU Physics department Reader Neeraj Kumar Gour said that presently scholars of the department have received fellowships and scholarships from los Alamos National laboratory USA, Centre for Materials for Information Technology (MINT) Alabama USA, Fast Track schemes for young scientists- DST, DS Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship schemes, Women scientist scheme, Inspire scholarship and fellowship programme, Meritorious BSR scheme, Maulana Azad national fellowship for minority students, Department of Atomic Energy, University Grant Commission (UGC), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-Nehru fellowship, Rajiv Gandhi National fellowship, International Union Material Society Singapore, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology (MPCST).
Gaur further said that these fellowships and scholarships were awarded in the academic year 2012-13 only.
Besides, more than 20 scholars from the department have represented the university and country at various international platforms where they presented their research work and participated in workshops.
Gaur further said that BU Physics department is the one with highest number of fellowship received scholars in all over the state.
BU Vice Chancellor Nisha Dubey said that BU has lesser but qualified faculties who are very enthusiastic about developing the students into researchers.
University administration is playing a major role by providing the facilities required to the researchers immediately. All the departments are carrying out huge research work besides Physics department.
