Barkatullah University (BU) will not organise special examination for students this year. University administration does not want extra work load of special examination.
Department of Higher Education (DHE) suggested universities of the State earlier this year to organise special examination for students who are not able to graduate due to ATKT in a semester.
It is worth mentioning that BU is the only university in the State which organised special examination for students in academic year 2012-13.
Since the introduction of semester system in the State, students have been complaining about loosing a year if failed even in one subject in the fifth or sixth semester examinations. DHE ordered universities to organize special examination so that students get another opportunity to graduate on time.
Thousands of students appeared in the special examination organised by BU in September 2012 but this year BU administration is in no mood to take extra responsibility of special examination.
Students with withheld results are worst hit by the university’s decision as they were expecting to graduate through the special examination.
BU Confidential department Deputy Registrar VK Singh said that university has organised the semester examinations on time and declared the results also on time. Most of the students have appeared in the examination and no need of a special examination is felt.
Singh further said that students have already been provided the opportunity of clearing the examinations. last year the examination was organised as the examination pattern was being changed and wanted to clear the pending old pattern students. University also needs to prepare for the routine semester examination going to be organised in November 2013.
