Barkatullah University (BU) administration is facing staff crunch and had been complaining about it since a long time, but at the same time several employees of the department are engaged in household chores at residences of senior officials in the Department of Higher Education (DHE).
According to sources, many BU employees of grade three and four are working as driver, stenographer or gardener for senior DHE officials for last several years.
Santosh Batham, Sodan Singh, Gurudutt Mishra, Jeevenlal Savkale, Jitendra Yadav and Rajeev Soni are university employees who are serving in DHE on different positions.
Ironically, the salaries of these employees are drawn from the university funds only but they do not have any link with the university.
He further said that university administration is also not concerned whether these employees are serving in the university or in the DHE as according to them those employees are actually serving the State Government itself.
It is worth mentioning that their posting in the DHE has also raised questions as these employees were neither sent to DHE on deputation nor any orders were issued regarding their transfer to DHE or any other department.
Also, these employees do not wish to return to their parent department i.e Barkatullah University (BU) as they are favoured by the DHE officials.
Madhya Pradesh University Employees Union (MPUEU) Secretary lakhan Singh Parmar said that even other employees of the university are agitated over the unjustified posting of employees in the DHE.
Employees had raised the issue with university administration on several occasions, but in vain. University administration does not want to take any action offending the DHE officers.
Parmar further said that those employees draw their salary from university fund only but none of the employees even know them properly. While some of the university employees are pressurised under heavy work load while some have been freed from the university demoralize the employees.
DHE Officer on Special Duty (OSD) refused to comment over the issue. BU Registrar Sanjay P Tiwari was unavailable for any comment over the issue due to health reasons.
