BRTS encroached at many places

The 12-kilometre long BRTS which was constructed for safety and easy transportation of people is facing problems as the service lane constructed along the corridor has been encroached upon at many places. The service road has been totally encroached at many places and is used for parking by many hotel owners, showrooms owners, hospitals and mall owners. Due to the encroachment on service road the traffic is diverted on the main BRTS road where the pressure of traffic increases resulting in the traffic jam and accidents.

The worst condition is in Vijaynagar area where the service road is totally used for the parking. locals alleged that in front of the C 21 mall the service road is totally blocked and more than 500 scooters, bikes and cars are parked on this service road by the people who come to shop in the C 21 mall daily.There are hundreds of shops and branded showrooms in the mall and people from all over Indore district and nearby districts come to this mall for shopping and park their vehicles outside the mall on the service road. The underground parking in the mall is always packed, congested and suffocating.

The district administration has also erected the warning board on this service road, stating that penalty on the mall would be imposed if parking is found on the service lane, but the customers park their vehicles besides this warning board and hide the warning board too.SDM Vijaynagar D Nagendra told The Pioneer that a strict action will be taken against the mall owner.
