BRTS corridor in Indore from Sunday onwards will be exclusively for i-buses. Following an order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court Indore bench, the district administration in a notification on Saturday has prohibited entry of car and other four-wheelers in the BRTS lane from March 8 onwards.
Information to this effect was given at a meeting of the senior district officials on Saturday.
Chairing the meeting, district collector Akash Tripathi said that the Madhya Pradesh High Court (Indore bench) in its ruling sometime back had prohibited entry of vehicles other than i-buses in the BRTS lane. Honouring the ruling of the High Court, collector said that from March 8 onwards, the district administration will not allow plying of cars and other four-wheelers in the BRTS lane and in case any other vehicles were found running in the BRTS lane, strict disciplinary actions would be taken against the vehicle owners and accordingly, chalans would be served to them.
In this regard, he also directed traffic police to ensure that no other vehicles ply on the BRTS lane other than i-buses. He asked traffic department to re-synchronise traffic signals on the BRTS corridor by the night of March 7 following withdrawal of other vehicles from BRTS lane.
With the latest HC ruling, the i-buses will exclusively run on the BRTS lane almost after 16 months since it had been thrown open by the HC for mixed vehicles. After a gap of almost 16 months, the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Indore bench taking cognisance of the recommendations of an expert committee formed by it sometime back, reversed its earlier ruling on January 23 this year, barring running of other vehicles from the BRTS lane.
