Eighteen years after Congress leader Sarla Mishra died of burn injuries under mysterious circumstances, her brother Anand Mishra has reiterated his demand of a CBI enquiry into what he allege was a political murder.
Congress leader Sarla Mishra’s brother Anurag Mishra has once again raked up the issue of her mysterious death, after it was proved suicide in court, by demanding a CBI enquiry into the matter on Saturday.
“I have got all the documents related to Sarla’s death from the police under RTI (Right to Information) recently. Though police claim to have closed the case, the status in court does not suggest so,” Anurag Mishra said, while speaking to mediapersons on Saturday.
He said he and his lawyer have concluded after examining the papers that there are several lacunae in the investigation done by the police, and hence the demand for a CBI enquiry into the case.
Sarla Mishra was found with severe burns at her residence on February 19, 1997. She succumbed to her burn injuries later. The case was deemed suicide in court.
Anurag’s brother Anand Mishra had met Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during the monsoon session of the assembly in July this year, demanding a CBI enquiry in the case. The brothers also staged a dharna at the board office square later.
The two allege that former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh and his brother laxman Singh were involved in the murder and hushed up the case.
Sarla Mishra was found with severe burn injuries at her residence in Bhopal on February 19, 1997. She succumbed to her burn injuries later. The case was deemed suicide in court.
