Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Deputy Prime Minister lK Advani on Saturday held the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government’s ineptness responsible for rising prices and corruption besides for undermining of the country’s reputation abroad.
“Wherever the BJP is in power in the country, the States have carved identities due to development and good governance. The party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has emerged as a symbol of development and good governance,” said Advani while addressing an election rally here.
He said a wave of change is sweeping the country in the 16th lok Sabha elections and hoped that the result would bring good news along in the form of end to the Congress rule. Advani said a strong Government would come to power under Modi that would restore the nation’s pride.
Reminiscing former premier Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s initiatives for the welfare of tribal community, he said the BJP would ensure that every community and every section gets equal opportunities.
"For the past five decades, the Congress ruled the country but failed to come up to the expectations of people. On the other hand, the BJP fulfilled the commitments it made,” the octogenarian leader said.
He said that I am confident that the BJP and not the ruling Congress will form the next Government at the Centre. “Those who have been following the opinion polls these days, they must have noticed how the numbers are growing these days, gradually with every passing day, more and more numbers are attributed to the BJP that they are going to come and today hardly any common man has any doubt as who will be the next government, certainly not UPA,” Advani said.
Advani claimed that many people were abandoning other political parties and coming forward to be a part of the BJP.
