Published on:

Governor Anandiben Patel has said that it is the duty of the countrymen residing in the bordering areas to maintain good relations with the army men deployed on the border and extend support to them.

There is a very deep relationship between the people residing in the bordering areas and the army men deployed in the border areas.

Both of them have to face similar kind of circumstances and difficulties.

She said this during a meeting with a 34-member team of the Trainee Assistant Commandant of the Armed Border Forces here today.

Patel further said that there is a need to take strict measures to protect the armymen from attacks of terrorists and Naxalites by the use of modern weapons and methods in the borders and internal areas. Today, where our armies are getting exposed to modern weapons and communication equipment, terrorists and Naxalites are also using modern methods.

This puts the lives of the army men engaged in patrolling at risk. The 'Special Service Bureau' has significant contribution in protecting the country in the Kargil war and the subsequent changing circumstances.

The Governor said that it is due to the sacrifices, bravery and hard work of our jawans, be it of Army, BSF or other forces that our country’s defence is establishing its reputation among the world's largest armies.

Throwing light on the activities of the Academy, Director Armed Border Forces Academy Sudhanshu Nautiyal gave detailed information about Armed Border Forces Academy re-established in Bhopal after being shifted from Srinagar in Uttarakhand.
