The booklets published by Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication on effects of Article 370 titled ‘Impact Analysis of Article 370’ and ‘Reality & Images of Jammu and Kashmir: Role of Media’ were recently released at Constitution Club, New Delhi.

A discourse on Article 370 was also organised on the occasion. The function was organised under the joint aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Study Center, New Delhi and Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism. Director of Jammu and Kashmir Study Center, Jawahar Kaul, Ashutosh Bhatnagar and senior journalist NK Singh were present on the occasion. The keynote speaker of the function was Jammu & Kashmir and Article 370 expert and social worker, Arun Kumar while it was presided over by Vice-Chancellor of the journalism university, Prof Brij Kishore Kuthiala.

Notably, the university had got a research done, analysing the impacts of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.  The research work was carried out by senior journalist, Sant Kumar Sharma. The booklet published on the conclusions derived from the research work ‘Dhara 370 Ke Prabhavon Ka Vishleshan’ and its English translation ‘Impact Analysis of Article 370’ were released at the function. The report of the national seminar organised by the university on the subject, ‘Reality & Images of Jammu & Kashmir: Role of Media’ from January 24 to 26, 2014 published by the university was also released on the occasion.

Introducing the subject during the discussion on impact of Article 370, Ashutosh Bhatnagar said that the provisions for enforcing Article 370 and its removal are given in the Indian constitution but hype has been created to continue its enforcement. There is a need for logical discussions on Article 370, because most of the issues which are prevalent in the discussions these days are actually not in the provisions of the Article. Media can play a crucial role in disseminating information.
