The whole of mill area here on Monday mourned the death of six young boys who met with a deadly accident last night as their bodies were taken on their final journey. Grieving people stood in silence and bid adieus to the departed soul as the funeral procession passed through different lanes and by-lanes of Pantipura and Nehru Nagar localities. Majority of shops in the mill area remained closed on Monday to mourn the death of young boys.
A sea of humanity followed the funeral procession of young boys whose life were cut short by an unfortunate road mishap near Umria Khedi on Sunday. The mortal remains of all the five deceased were finally consigned to flames at Malwa Mill burial ground with thousands of people standing in silence. Out of six deceased, five of them identified as Santosh alias Rahul Yadav, Ravi, Rahul, Raju and Motilal, all residents of Patnipura and Nehru Nagar localities died on the spot, while another identified as Arvind, a resident of Banganga injuries seriously when their car was hit by a rashly driven container near Umriakhedi on Khandwa road last night.
According to family members, all the deceased who were bosom friends had gone to Omkareshwar on Sunday to celebrate birthdays. The incident occurred while they were on their way to Indore on Sunday evening where their car was hit by a container near Umriakhedi village on Khandwa road. While five of them died on the spot, the sixth identified as Arvind who had sustained serious injuries succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning. Arvind's last rites were performed at Banganga Muktidham on Monday amid presence of hundreds of people of the locality. As the news of their death reached Nehru Nagar and Patnipura localities, a pall of gloom pervaded in the locality with neighbours, relatives thronging the residences of the deceased.
According to an eye-witness Vinod Yadav, one of the deceased Santosh alias Rahul Yadav had his birthday on Sunday. In order to celebrate his birthday, we all 11 friends had gone to Khedighat at Barwah in two cars, Vinod said adding that he himself and three others were travelling in Swift car, while Santosh and other six friends were travelling in a lancer car. We in our respective cars were going towards a road-side dhaba. when the lancer car was hit badly by a container vehicle at Umariakhedi. The impact of the collision was so strong that lancer got entangled inside the container's wheel. Five persons died on the spot while one in hospital.
