If you are looking for the cleanest campus in Bhopal, then definitely it is Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) campus. It is a super speciality hospital campus, where hygiene and maintenance is a priority. Pollution and traffic problems are negligible with round-the-clock security.
In the campus, Swachch Bharat campaign was taken in a very serious manner and innovative Ideas were invited. Competitions were held to find out excellent methods of quality assurance and hygiene maintenance.
There are around 100 families in the residential area (that is well structured and uniformly built). The area is properly decorated and provided with proper waste disposal bins.
Residents too contribute in the maintenance of their campus by obliging to use the facility provided, properly. Every morning a garbage disposal truck collects waste from all the blocks and takes it for dumping.
Hospital’s Blood Bank supervisor Peethambaran, who is living in the campus for past 15 years, says “Administration is extremely prompt about running regular maintenance checks, however, irregularities are criticized harshly.”
He believes that the supervision is in highly capable hands, which is why the process is regularly upgraded and the requirements are met from time to time.
There are various arrangements made for toxic and nontoxic waste handling and disposal. They have been provided with special set of uniforms to wear, while working inside the hospital premises, he added.
Roads are properly tarred and plants and trees are planted on both sides. Mercy Tambi an occupant of type four quarters in the campus says, “Beauty is carefully crafted into every corner of the campus. Maintenance of them takes an army of workers, but at end of the day it pays it dividends.”
Insecticides are sprayed regularly to prevent spreading of mosquitoes in the campus. The health of the residents is looked at with at most importance, and all the measures to maintain the status quo are taken quickly.
“Electricians and carpenters, all are available in the campus. They respond to every call, even in odd hours. Water supply and purification process is another vantage point. Administration guarantees that resident has ample supply of water round the year. Floors and walls inside the main building and in residential area get repaired regularly too” says the maintenance supervisor, G Garg.
People inside the campus usually prefer to walk, and there is a speed limit set for vehicles. This causes less amount of pollution. “If you come inside the campus in the evening, you will find people taking their evening walk or hanging out in the park, peacefully” claims Manju Tiwari.
